Given today's major outage affecting many customers located in Equinix LD8 (https://status.giga.net.uk/incidents/3zcfz8s8g43h), we're going to assume that this maintenance was effectively 'completed' earlier this afternoon when they restored power to our rack on the new PDU systems.

Clearly completely the wrong circumstances for this to complete early, and we were just 17 hours away from potentially being 'saved' by being on the new power infrastructure.

A full RFO will be provided on the incident.

We apologise to all affected customers for today's incident.

Our data centre provider has announced planned engineering works that will affect one of our core London POPs - Equinix LD8.

Affecting: All traffic and services provided via our LD8 POP

Date & time of maintenance window: 18/08/20 21:00 - 18/08/20 21:30

Service Impact: Our LD8 POP is at-risk during this time window.

Duration of At-risk period: 10 minutes per power feed

Tasks:
Equinix have announced that their new electrical infrastructure is now available to support our services meaning they will be transferring our power supplies to the new electrical infrastructure during this time.

This maintenance is the second and final of the two windows for this work.

Our rack and all equipment is dual fed from two independent power feeds.

This maintenance work is only concerned with our core networking rack rather than our vDC rack.

Checks will be made to ensure that all services are live before they change to the alternative power supply.

This activity is fully scripted and may include the use of equipment system vendors and service providers.

Planned engineering works are required from time-to-time to ensure that the network remains stable, high-performing and resilient.
